Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Engineer to strengthen the server-side development capability of the Project Synapse approval management platform. The role will focus on designing and enhancing scalable microservices, workflow capabilities, and event-driven solutions within Company' technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain Java 18+ backend applications and services.
- Build and enhance Spring Boot microservices supporting approval and workflow management.
- Develop scalable, event-driven solutions using Kafka.
- Design and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations across distributed systems.
- Develop and support MongoDB-based persistence layers.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with distributed teams across London, Prague, and Pune.
- Support deployment, monitoring, and operational stability on the Barclays BCP platform.
Mandatory Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java 18+.
- Proven experience building Spring Boot Microservices.
- Strong understanding of distributed and event-driven architectures.
- Expertise in Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Experience with MongoDB.
- Strong API design and microservices development experience.
- Experience developing scalable, high-performance backend applications.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Kubernetes and containerised deployments.
- Helm Chart development and maintenance.
- Workflow orchestration and business process management platforms.
- BPMN-based workflow solutions.
- Experience within large-scale Financial Services environments.
Candidate Profile:
A skilled backend engineer with strong expertise in Java 18+, Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB, and Microservices, ideally complemented by Kubernetes and workflow orchestration experience.
